3D view - creating fixtures

Post by tjobrien21 »

I'm trying to figure out how to create a new fixture for the 3D view simulator. I have 4 Eliminator Electro86 LED lights, and I've created fixture files for them in Freestyler using its fixture creator. They work great with actual lights attached.. However, there's no fixture profile in the 3D viewer for that light. Is there a way to create new lights for 3D view, and if so, what tools should I use?

Thanks,
Tim

in the frestyler folder there is a program called Scanlibrary. here you can create fixtures for the magic 3D visualizer. its a bit more complex than the fixture creator but it is doable ;)

when you have made the fixture for magic 3Dand tested it you can upload it to "Magic 3D Easy View Fixture Files - User Created Downloads"

Thanks for the reply. I've tried the program you suggested, and it appears to be only for creating new moving light fixtures. Is there a trick to creating a simple PAR can type light within it?

Onge

You should make that into a PDF or put it up on the wiki.
Most helpful intro to 3d vis fixture creator ive seen!

Nicely done.

I have almost given up on the wiki's as I do not find them really suitable for doing tutorial type of documents.
I think they are fine for the stuff we have done so far on the DMX Wiki but not so good for the FreeStyler Wiki. I did start but have not continued with it and no one else has contributed, which is a shame. I know we are all busy and some find it very difficult to edit documents, really need one with a full inline WYSIWYG editor so people will find it easier to use.
I agree with you here. I was going to say about between us all creating a set of PDFs on different FS features.
These could then be put of the wiki (or here) for download.

I see that DJsupport has now started a compertiton which involes getting people to contribute to the FS Wiki with the chance to win an Enttec Pro (good prize!)
I think this is a great idea (even though I'm probably barred from entering!) and look forward to seeing the results.
Hope its a success! :fs:
