Sound Active Fixture

Post by soldstatic »

Hi,

I'm trying to create a pretty simple setup of 4 RGB LED lights. I created the fixture from scratch since I have an 'off brand' (i think the mfr is actually "lighting"). But I'm not having any luck getting it to respond to the sound to light thing.

I cilck to enable sound when adding the fixture to the location. I right click fixture and click enable sound. The soudn to light thing is bouncing around so its picking up the audio, and the beat light is flashing and looks good. The lights are green showing that the beat thing enabled. But the fixture isn't responding.

Also i noticed when I was trying to use other fixtures (cause i couldn't find mine), and there was a little bar on the top with the color of the light (which wasnt the color of my light since the channels were jacked up), but yea anyway that bar isn't there for my light either.

Help please!

can you upload your fixture so we can have a look at it? also tell us the DMX protocol for the light.

open the fixture file (.fxt) in the fixture creator, choose file --> export and save the packed fixture file (.pff) and upload it

Actually I think I figured out why the colors weren't working. When you start the fixture editor, you have to choose the type of fixture. I think I chose a generic one that looked like my par can. But if I choose 'other' there are more boxes that come that help with defining the channels. For instance there is a spot to actually put 'strobe' in there, along with specific points for R/G/B channels. I think those RGB channels are what is required to get the color preview bar thing on top of the fixture in the main window.

I still can't seem to make it sound active though. Will upload my latest iteration of the fixture tonight.
