Mega GO Bar 50 RGBA goes dark after 7 seconds

Hello, I am using the latest version of Freestyler with an Elation Compu 04 (Sunlite SL512C) usb interface on an XP laptop.

When using Elation's CompuShow 2006, I can control the light fine and it stays on. I had to create a custom map for both CompuShow and Freestyler.

When I use Freestyler, again with the fixture I created, I can choose a macro, solid color, brightness, etc. But 7 seconds after I do not adjust anything, the fixture will go blank. If I choose a different color, it will light back up (sometimes I have to do both the intensity and a color/macro, I have not done it enough to find the exact relationship). After 7 seconds of no change, it will go back off.

I am not doing any scenes or anything like that. I am just controlling the fixture directly with the panels in Freestyler.

I do have a different effect light, Chauvet Mini Kinta LED, that I need to create a fixture file before I can test with that. But, because it works with CompuShow, I believe I just have something setup wrong or I am expecting something to act the way it's not supposed to.

I can see that there are some kinta in the complete library file so you may have a look there for the fixture.
It is under the "FreeStyler Fixture files - User created downloads"


Under the "Output" in the top menu you can open the output monitor.
It shows what FreeStyler are sending to your fixture. You should be able to see if anything changes after seconds.

Sorry for the slow response. I am also an electrician and a home inspector. Spring brought a busy few weeks for me.

The output monitor shows that it is still sending a value to the fixture.

I think it will be a good idea to try an other type of fixture to see if this is related to the laptop or the fixture.

I am not sure if XP has a power down function on the USB if there is no activity on the USB port but as a long shot it may be worth to search for.

XP does have a power saving option for the USB hub. I would be surprised if it would time out in seven seconds. I disabled the option on the hubs anyway. The fixture still shuts off. I will try to find or create a definition for the mini-kinta led fixture tonight if I have time.

Sorry to let this sit for so long. I had some medical conditions come up that kept me from getting back to this.
I now have 6 fixtures being controlled by DMX. Two ADJ Mega Go Bar RGBA RC's, a Chauvet Mini Kinta LED, an Elation DP-DMX20L 4ch Dimmer Pack, and two Martin MX-4 scanners.
I have a fresh install of XP on an ELO 22" Touch Screen with the Elation Compu 04 interface. I have created fixtures for the ADJ, Chauvet, and Elation. All lights can be controlled.
I still loose one mega go bar as listed earlier. The other one stays on and works as expected.
The output window shows both GO bars outputting the value after the first one goes dark.
DMX Channel Usage:
1-8 Mega Go Bar (this one cuts out after 7 seconds
9-16 Mega Go Bar (works fine)
17-19 Kinta
20 Dimmer
21 Dimmer
22 Dimmer
23 Dimmer
24-30 MX-4
31-37 MX-4

So, I picked up an Entec Open-DMX adapter today.
All fixtures work as expected, including the first one. So it apears to be an issue with Freestyler and the Elation DMX adapter.
