Delay movement on effects
Hi all i have just migrated from Daslight to Freestyler and ordered my BCF2000 today, however I have a question when you select one of the movement patterns is it possible to make the effect delay between heads. Sometimes called phasing.
I tried setting the fanning offset first, but as soon as the preselect movement is selected all heads respond together without the delay / fan.

Hi Richard
Yes you can but its not the easiest thing to do.
Firstly open the 'create sequence' window, or you wont be able to save this.
Select all your scan / moving head fixtures, turn the lamps on and set them to do a circle.
They will all now be doing the same thing and it looks fairly boring.
Now in the movement window below the 'on' button is a button called 'shape', click this and a second window opens.
In the bottom left you will see a +-. this alows you to rotate the shape in degrees.
Now unselect your fixtures and select just the SECOND fixture and then adjust the degrees by lets say 30.
Then unselect and select the next fixture and adjust by 30 and so on till there all done.
And there you go, you've made a circle movement with 30 degree offsets and it should look pretty cool.
Lastly save it!

The other way to is to use the fx gen but I find you get much nicer results this way

OK i have managed to create a set of delayed movements in the visualiser. I have the scene dialog box open . how do I save this to the scene. ?
OK don it I just realised FS stores this as a single scene , whereas Daslight would store this as 15 or so scenes.

Correct. This has confused people before. You would have to ask the developer why this is but it is that way!
Also as a note on using this method to make offsets, you can move the shape in the window to a better position other that smack bang center but when you then change the offset the circle will jump straight back to the center position again. This means that you would have to remove the shape to the position everytime AFTER you change the offset. Its a bit of a crappy method in this sense but it still works.

If you use the FX generator it will make more than one steps in the "create sequence" window

Good point - FX gen works in a different way and will save each step as a sequence

sorry yes Andre I ment steps not scenes, and LJ krede I tried using the fx generator but this only seems to work with either pan or tilt but not both at the same time , and again delay does not appear to be possible with FX either.

* choose sin/cos and PAN, and hit the "Generate" button
* choose sin/cos and Tilt, and hit the "Generate" button
now your fixtures should move in both direction (pan and tilt) at the same time
in the FX gen you can set a checkmark at "Distribute evenly". Remember to hit "generate" afterwards, and do it for both pan and tilt (if you want it to be phased in both directions). your fixtures are now phased/delayeddelay does not appear to be possible with FX either.

Kristian I have just tried this as you suggested and it generated 12 scenes , but when I look at the actual movement it is just a diagonal line not a circle.please tell me what I am doing wrong.
OK answered my own question after trial and error. pan needs to be assigned to a sine wave and tilt needs to be assigned to a cosine wave form. then it works ok.
but still not getting a circle more elipse. so i will try with amplitude settings to get a circle.

Ive played extensivly with the fx gen and I find that as regards pan and tilt moves you get different results than that of the 'other method'.
I therefore find that a combination of moves made both ways will general give you a movement pallette that is very flexible.
