Lixada Mini Gobo LED Spot 25W - 11CH

Post by Fireball »

Hello Community,
here is my Fixture for the mini moving head "LIXADA Mini Gobo LED Spot 25W" for 11 channel mode, which I've bought from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/Lixada-DMX-512-A ... B0168LVUSK). I've added the gobo pctures in the fixture as well.

For reference I've added the scanned manual as well.

I have 5 fixtures but im not sure if they are working properly, once i imput the address they go back to sound after a moment, is that because the freestyler soft is not connected to them pending the finding of a good pff file. Im going to try this file but what should the address be?

Assuming you want individual control of each of your 4 instruments remember that each instrument responds to 11 channels. Be sure you assign address such that there is no overlap.
Instrument 1 could be assigned addresses 1 thru 11
Instrument 2 could be assigned addresses 12 thru 22
Instrument 3 could be assigned addresses 23 thru 33
Instrument 4 could be assigned addresses 34 thru 44

As long as the address which you configure your instrument matches the address of the fixture and does not overlap another instrument then the address you assign is purely your choice. Freestyler nor your physical instrument care.

I have programmed some DMX boards that used groups of channels. I have chosen instrument addresses to make it easier to remember which group of channels controlled which group of instruments (I had left and right light trees on the wall, a light bar in the center of the house and 2 electrics on stage)

Use Freestyler Setup to verify you have the correct interface selected.
If there is an indicator on the instruments verify the instruments are seeing the DMX signal
Make sure channel 7 is set to a value the will turn on the light
Make sure channel 8 is set to a value that is high enough to see the light.

Check the physical configuration of your instrument. Make sure it is set to DMX mode.

I finally managed to make them work, the issue was the drivers of UDMX but now their movement is not smooth it's like doing small steps at a time. Is there anything I can do about it? Thank you a lot for your help.

When you notice the movement is not smooth is a sequence running or are you manually adjusting the position?

When I run a sequence and especially on the slow speed. I choose pre-made sequences like 8 or circle, flower etc. Colors and gobos are working fine. I've done several tests on speed and fade but I still haven't manage to make them run slow and smooth.Maybe 256 or 512 channels on UDMX are too many for them?

It possible your problem is related to the uDMX.

My thought is that the combination of settings of channel 9 (pan/tilt speed) and the sequence speed and fade times are the issue. If the pan/tilt speed is set to slow and the speed/fade time is long then the movement of the light from one position to the next might be slow enough that the stepping motion used to move the instrument is perceived.

How can I adjust the pan/tilt speed? I'm sorry but I make my first steps in controlling the heads with a program.

No problem - we have all had to learn and there is a lot to learn about programming.

According to the information in the chart in the first post of this conversation, when the instrument is configured in 11 channel mode then channel 9 controls the pan/tilt physical movement speed. A value of 0 sets the speed to its maximum speed and a value of 255 sets it to its slowest speed.

My understanding of moving head instruments is that movement is performed in small increments (steps) from the current location to the location specified by the pan/tilt channels.

The fade time in the sequence controls how quickly Freestyler changes the value(s) in the pan/tilt channel(s). If the fade time is long then the values change slowly and the small increments of physical movement may become visually perceptible. If the channel 9 setting, speed of movement is also slow, I think that the physical movement will appear to not be smooth.

It is important that the speed setting of the sequence, which is actually how long Freestyler runs the step of the sequence, is long enough to complete the fade time. If the speed setting is for a shorter time than the fade time the fade will not complete before the next step of the sequence begins - this can cause undesired visual effects.

There are 3 settings in a sequence for each channel. The channel can be ignored, the channel can SNAP (change instantly) to the new value or the channel may "fade" (gradually change) to the new value. The standard Freestyler sliders (upper right hand corner of the monitor) can be used to make this setting. A red line means the channel is ignored. A yellow lightning bolt means the channel SNAPs to the new value. A green icon means the channel "fades" to the new value. You change this setting by clicking on the icon until the setting you want is displayed.

Another important setting is whether the sequence is set to STATIC or TRANSPARENT.

That sounds like it may be a problem with your instrument. Have you tried turning it off and disconnecting the power? If not, try that. Then connect the power and turn the instrument on. Check that it is in DMX mode with the DMX address set to what your Freestyler Location expects.

Thank you in advance for your advice on here. My problem is , after I set the address for the 2 Lixada moving head lights, then set them to 11 channels instead of the default 9, inevitably after a few minutes, they default back to 9 channels, and sometimes drop the address. I have made sure after i perform each setting I press the enter, also checked to make sure they are not overlapping addresses. In addition, each time they are powered off, I have to re-enter the settings again. I do not have this problem with any of my other lights in my universe. Any suggestions? Thanks!
