Which kind of grease use to refurbish our DMX fixtures?

Post by Barabba »

Hi all here! Thank you for kindly report your experience.

Does anyone here fixed/refurbished a DMX light?
I'm going to replace the LED chips on 6 scanners after 5 years 24h working, and I would like to add come grease to the mechanical parts too, may you kindly suggest me which kind of grease should I use? There are different types.. as I read I guess Silicone spray is better than CRC 5-56 or WD40 which by the time/hot can become "gum"..
I would like to use a spry to be able to reach difficult parts without unmounting all. Thank you for you kind help

I have a couple of moving heads that squeak when moving. I'm assuming this is due to a lack of lubrication. Any suggestions?

Thanks

For gears you need a more thicker lubricant, not a liquid one.
Like MAAC said, Molycote is a good one.

Look for a specific grease for what you intend to lubricate, plastic gears, or metal bearings.

Stay away from CV grease as these are intended for heavy loads and high-pressure joints and rollers.

I typically use white lithium grease.
