APC Mini Button Lights work with no midi ox!! Hooray!

Post by steve lynch »

This may be old news, but after extensive searching and searching, and downloading app after app, yoke after yoke, translator after... well you get the point.

I figured out the apc mini button lights...

Why has no one else posted the instructions before??

It's so simple!

In the midi configure screen, you set your "on" or "Off" value to 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6

This is green, red, yellow, Green Flash, Red Flash, yellow Flash.

That's it!

Again, maybe some already knew this, but all i find online are post after post with no resolution. so I figured I'd post it up! :fs:

Steve,

Thanks. This information is very helpful. However the values do not match with my APC mini controller. This is what I found out:
1 - Green
2 - Green Flash
3 - Red
4 - Red Flash
5 - Yellow
6 - Yellow Flash

Question: Is there a way to configure the round buttons?

you are correct, sorry, it was very late... the round buttons on the right are green only, and the round buttons over the sliders are red only.. the blackout button cannot be configured.

Steve,

I have posted this question:
With the new submaster Flash option I have a problem with my Akai APC mini controller: the submaster-run option is addressed to a button on my controller. In 3.6.40 this button behaves only as a 'flash' button even if the flash-options in the submasters are deselected.

So far, no responses.
What is you experience with submasters on the APC mini with 3.6.40?

I have a strange issue on my APC Mini since the .40 upgrade - the 'run' submaster button won't latch - it just flashes run then seems to send off again so the program on that sub stops. The stop buttons I've mapped (the ones down the far right, from the top) work fine.
That's at the club.

I'm gonna try it on my laptop (still .32 I think, missed the last couple of upgrades due to issues we've seen at the club) and see if it works. If so, I may have to try the .41 I see has been released last month.

Hi steve,
My "on" and "off" values are locked to 0 and 127.
Could you explain me how to change these values ?
Thanks

Hi!

I have just spent the last few days sorting out the AKAI APC MINI to work with Freestyler 3.6.43

Mostly all is good. Some ideas we still have to work through the best way to implement them.

BUT ....

We have one issue which seems to defy our logic:

Most feedback to the LED lights work perfectly but one or two simply don't. For example we have mapped all the overrides onto page 1 and made selectors to choose each of our standard six pages of overrides.

These buttons all work fine and in general all the lights are setting correctly - we have used amber for in use but off and green for selected.

Except on ONE page two of the buttons on he APC MINI light up as amber (i.e. loaded but off) even though there is nothing loaded.

Also we have a selector to select the page for cues and further buttons to select the cues themselves. Page one of the cues works fine. We use the same logic, Amber for Cue button loaded and Green for running. On page one the amber lights light up only for he loaded cues and switch green when selected as you would expect.

However, on page two the amber lights are all off even though the first two cues are loaded. The buttons will work by setting freestyler to run the cues BUT they dont light.

Any thoughts on these two issues would be gratefully received.

We have three of these APC MINIs as we have two separate setups and overall we feel they are great value and bring using freestyler into another dimension. We run these for DJing, live band support and corporate functions
