control dmx400 channels

Post by studiohaidn »

Hi,

is it possible to fade and flash each channel (1-12) in dmx400 with the bcf2000? I couldn`t find anything in the forum, this would be a really nice function to control frontlights, simply colorpars and what`s more Blinders!

Dmx400 has limited control via the bcf2000.
You could assign midi to dmx to the corresponding channels on your fixtures and faders on the bcf.
Also look at using the Overide buttons too.
Hope this helps you.

THX, flashing blinders with override buttons is a good idea! Even though it would be nice to control all channels in dmx400 mixer (separate master intensity...)

THX for fast response!

I agree!

I think DMX400 takes precedence over the assigned DMX channels, so MIDI to DMX will not work properly. not 100% sure about this thou, maybe it was the opposite; Changing the channels from other places in FS but the DMX400 will take precedence... You/I/us have to retest it to be sure

Its no good solution to use midi to dmx and fixtures with the same address in dmx 400 at the same time. If you turn the dmx400 master fader down and up the channel values always change to 255 but dmx 400 blackout works. For audienceblinders i will use two midi to dmx channels and control them with a button on bcf2000 instead of a fader, so i have simple flash buttons for the blinders.
Maybe the next freestyler version will allow full midicontrol of dmx400 mixer.

Another question:
Does anybody know how to use the same midi function f.e. in midi page 3 and 4 (not page independant)?

Yes you need to remap the BCF.
Use bcedit to do this. You can then set up any page on the BCF to have universal fader / button control.
I do this so that all buttons and encoders are the same function on every page and only the fader control channels are changed. At some point I will upload my bcf files.
