Connecting Cheap Non-Brand Lights

Hi Everyone,

To be clear, I have no idea what I'm doing. I run a drama club for primary school children, and have just bought some cheap non-brand LED lights (I suppose they're most suited for DJs but they only need to be chucked up in a school hall for an hour or two and then taken down). I've downloaded Freestyler x2 and have my uDMX plugged into one of the lights while I get used to how it all works.

Obviously, being non-branded, they don't exist in the fixture list in Freestyler, so I go in to create a new fixture from scratch, but I haven't got a clue what any of it means once the window opens. I have a "user manual" (playing fast and loose with that term) from the manufacturers which is essentially one small piece of paper with two tables (one in Chinese and the other in English) telling me the following:

CH1 | 1-255 | Colour brightness control (this change should use together with CH2, CH3 or CH4).
CH2 | 1-255 | Red brightness from dark to light
CH3 | 1-255 | Green brightness from dark to light
CH4 | 1-255 | Blue brightness from dark to light
CH5 | 0-7 | No Strobe Flash
| 8-255 | Strobe Flash
CH6 | 0-10 | Manual Control (CH1-CH5)
| 11-60 | Colours selection (colours contorted by CH7)
| 61-110 | Colours shade (colours contorted by CH7)
| 111-160 | Colours pulse transform (colours contorted by CH7)
| 161-210 | Colours transitions (speed contorted by CH7)
| 211-255 | Sound Control
CH7 | 0-255 | Colours selection/Colours shade

I haven't got a clue what any of this really means; how the heck do I translate this information into the fixture creator? I feel like I'm learning a foreign language and it's extremely frustrating.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hej.

Fixture creator actually just maps faders and buttons in FreeStyler to a fixture channel.
So when you pull the red fader in FreeStyler you have mapped it to channel 2

This link may help you.

Often the LED RGB spots have some kind of similar channel mapping.
So I did a quick search in the fixture library for you and found a device having a real close match to your table.
I think its ready to use with your fixtures.
Search for this fixture in your library:
Blizzard Lighting
ProPar 336

You might find more than one, select the one with 7ch (7 channels) in the comments.
you should be able to use your lights now (after adding them into freestyler and address them correctly), without having to create or edit your own fixture file.
(This fixture file is actually created by Jan_K, in 2012. :) )

Curious; any progress on this?
