BeamZ FlatPAR 186x10mm UV keeps strobing.

Post by slaughsj »

Good day everyone.

I recently bought a BeamZ FlatPAR UV (7 DMX channels) and am having all sorts of trouble trying to get it to behave.

First, some info. The fixture works perfectly on a hardware controller (Chauvet Obey 10).
All my other fixtures (Stagg and BeamZ moving heads, Chauvet Cubix 2, Chauvet Corebar4, BeamZ Panther 25) all work perfectly. They work with Freestyler from two different PCs.

I have set channel 1 (Dimmer) on Lamp Channel 0-255, Channel 7 (Strobe) on Strobe Channel, Off:0, Low:5, Med:128, High:255).

The other channels are:
2: UV1 (Pattern A)
3: UV2 (Pattern B)
4: UV3 (Pattern C)
5: UV4 (Pattern D)
6: Auto / Sound (Built-in programs/sound)

I've tried putting channels 2-6 in the positions marked Iris, Focus, Frost, 2nd Frost, Zoom etc and any combination of those.

Problem is, when I turn up the dimmer, nothing happens - fine, I haven't yet selected any other channel. Now, I turn up channels 2, 3, 4, or 5 (or all), and the patterns come on as they're supposed to, but they flash (without the strobe channel being on at all). It doesn't do this with the hardware controller..

Any help would be much appreciated - tried all sorts of combinations and nothing seems to work - and I programmed the other fixtures myself, so it's not the first time I'm using Fixture Creator.

Sigh.. TIA for any info.

If you open output -> show output and navigate to the channel for you fixture then you can see what Freestyler sends to you fixture on all 7 channels.

If you then uses the sliders in right side of FreeStyler then you have direct control to the channels and can verify that the fixture works as expected.

When you know that it works as expected and as the data sheets says then you can use the fixture control you have made and see what it sends on the channels.

Turns out the unit was faulty - I bought another and it was fine - supplier replaced the faulty unit.
