Got the light and have tried to use this file.

Not sure where the problem is. But iris is not controlling rotation. But is changing colors. Sound Active is not changing rotation either.

On the lamp tab 50%-74% turn rotation on. but only one speed, over or under 1% turns rotation off. Under 50% turns lamp and rotation off. Over 74% leaves lamp on no rotation.

As far as colors go, you can get the colors to turn on and off.

Ill play around with the fixture file... but im just guessing with it. until i or anyone else figures out a new fixture file... ill just use the auto and sound on the unit.

Has a manual been posted on this? If not I can scan and upload.

(On a side note I have two of these units and I must say the spread on these are GREAT easily fills a 60x40 2 story room with hundreds of beams of light, better with fog, but impressive with-out! Bang for buck an awesome light for under $30.00 on ebay.)

I just had a look on the fixture and found no error comparing it to the data sheet.

In the data sheet it looks like the fixture changes behavior if channel 6 are used.
I think you should hook up the mirror ball direct to your dmx dongle and then use the sliders in right side of FreeStyler to control the fixture.
Keep channel 6 on 0.
with the sliders you can set the dmx values exactly as in the data sheet and you can then open the output monitor to see what value goes to what address.

hope this helps you.

I have extensively used both fixture files listed here in the post. But neither really work right.

I am thinking my fixture might be the problem.

I have another on order, so when it gets in I will test out both fixture files and see what happens.

Hi

I just bought one of these lights and I am having trouble getting it to work at all with DMX.

I have tried a fixture I created myself and the two fixtures from this post but cannot get it to do anything using DMX.

The instructions are VERY vague, so I am not sure if the settings are working correctly. I am trying to use DMX channel 18 (as I have a 17ch Kam laser on channels 1-17), so I have scrolled through the (working) Auto menus on the Crystal Ball and set it to A018 and pressed 'Enter' which has then said 'saved'. I have then tried to send some DMX signals to it but it is not doing anything. I have also tried using various other DMX channels including ch1 and changing the start addresses on FS to correspond but still nothing.

I have noticed that if you press 'menu' once more is says 'slav' which seems to indicate it is running as a slave and not a master. I cannot find any way of changing this, and even when no DMX cables are plugged in it still says 'slav'. It is not connected to any other equipment so is this setting correct? If it is not and this is stopping it from receiving DMX signals does anyone know how I can change this and the up/down/enter buttons dont seem to change this.

If this is not the issue, does anyone have any ideas about how I can get this light to receive the DMX signals from FS?

Many thanks

Matt

If you go on the first page at the very top you'll see a blue link for a .PFF file, click that and it will download it. Then click it again to install the file for you.

I don't believe so. But you could have a look in the library and see if there's anything in there since the update?!

From today I have one of these units and I want to share my experience with it. It have 6 LEDs, each with different color, the ebay seller said it have 6 dmx channes. It is very nice and attractive fixture.
I found that if you press the Menu button for 5 seconds you can select after how many seconds the display goes off.
First it didn't worked on dmx mode, doesn't lights up. I found that 2 and 3 pins are connected, it was soldering problem, I have fixed it. Also I found that there is no fuse, it is not connected anywere, but it is not a problem, the power cord is so thin it can act as a fuse
First I had a problem in dmx mode, the unit was actually working in sound activated mode. The dmx channel was 21. I did a lot of tests: set all dmx channels to 0, blackout, remove React to sound, close Sound 2 Light, nothink changed the operation mode of the fixture. Only if I close FreeStyler it goes off, the usb dmx controller stops sending any dmx signal. When I start FreeStyler the dmx led of the dmx controller starts blinking, the fixture lights up and it is working in Sound activated mode again. Just to be shure all channel values are 0, I did a test with http://kmtronic.com/software/DMX/DMX_tester.zip
I'm using USB to DMX Controller Opto-Isolated http://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-to-DMX-Cont ... 2c81755f03
Later I found that this fixture work only if it is set on dmx channel 1.
Now I'm using the second configuration file (the one with the macros but with few modifications) and everythink is great :fs:
