Getting started - whats next?

So I've managed to get the sound to light interface working with Virtual DJ, I have my fixtures defined in FS.

Whats next?

How best to setup a light show for a Disco?

I have some PAR's, 2x spiders, 2 x moving spots and a combination unit that has laser/gobo/derby etc.

Would you just create a load of sequences?
or maybe have some of them on a long sequence that just continually runs and others set to change with the beat?

I want to setup a run and forget solution, where it just goes and I can concentrate on the music side of things.

There really is no right or wrong way to run the software. You set it up to perform the way that best suits your needs. If you just rely on having fixtures and setting them up with random sound to light action you will soon be disappointed. Use sound to light to move you through the sequences you build for a much better effect. I recommend building sequences for each fixture type then stacking them to get the desired look. I find it very important to have a cue to turn each fixture type off and use them as needed in cue stacks. Please remember that any channels NOT programmed will carry over from the previous cue.

Then the next stage is to get drunk...
The more you play the more you work out your own style
I don't do things the 'professional' way I just do things the way I want even if it means additional steps
