Can you sort/clean the fixturelist?

Post by PeterJack »

Hi,

I've been playing with creating my own fixtures (hardware, software, enclosures etc) for a couple of years now.

To test and play with them i normaly added a fixture that looked close enough to my freestyler location and altered that via the fixture editor.

This worked nice for me, however... in the past few years i've both added and removed fixtures from that list, resulting in enormeous gaps. Not DMX wise, but listwise.

Is it possible to somehow rearrange the items in the list to solve this?
I've been looking in the FLF files but cannot discover anything that resembles an index.

Can anyone help me? I would hate to have to rebuild everything from scratch.

Thanks,

Peter

I have the same issue with the fixture list.

As far as I understand you can tell FreeStyler when adding a fixture where to put it with "start at row" in the add fixture window. But I did not test it thoroughly and am not sure if this is "insert" or "overwrite", so when using it better make sure no fixture will be overwritten. ;-)

To get around this limitation I use different locations and remove fixtures I do not use in my setup very often.

I have an Excel spreadsheet for every of my fixture's DMX addresses, so if I add them again, I already know the address, and I make sure I do not use the same address or overlapping addresses for different fixtures if not intended.

It would be great if FreeStyler could manage an internal list of unused fixtures with their last DMX address, so you can add them to your setup easily when you need them again.

If the FreeStyler configuration / fixture / cue / … files could be XML or another human readable format, that would be great! :| That would make the need for some kind of external editor or built-in function of FreeStyler obsolete…
