LED bar, macro set up
I've done some reading in the set up macros and have done some searches, but it's all a little over me right now.
I have some LED, RGB bars that I have set up with the fixture creator and they work great! Red, Green, Blue, and white are all on separate channels.
How can I set up a macro, so that a single fader on my midi controller could be used to step through some color pallet? It wouldn't have to fade nice, just step though a few colors.
My main goal it to have one fader for color, another for master intensity and another for strobe control (which is another color).
I can set up the strobe and master intensity faders, just having trouble running all colors on a single fader.
thanks

Re: LED bar, macro set up
i doubt you will be able to use a fader for what you are wanting. you will need to create sequences for the scenes you are wanting then you could use buttons to step through them

Re: LED bar, macro set up
But, isn't one of ideas behind a macro is to be able to control more than one channel at once?

You cannot make 1 slider control multiple sequences or macros. You can create a sequence with multiple steps that have all the colors and you could run though the steps but you still cannot do it with a fader. Does your midi controller not have buttons? Macros are ways of adding shortcut buttons to your fixtures. Macros cannot contain steps.

Yes I have 12 buttons, 4 slide faders, 3 rotory potentiometers, a rotory encoder with push button and a toggle switch for the shift function.
So... Maybe I could create a sequence with a list of colors and scroll through them with the rotory encoder?

nope, they work the same way as fader. just use 2 buttons, + and - then you can scroll through sequences by various means

Hum...my encoder has lots of steps or detents and works like I'm pressing a button really fast...
I'll give it a try!
Thanks

Sweet! It works!
Rotory encoder set up on the midi page to manual trigger.

Re: LED bar, macro set up
Ok... Now how do I set up one of my faders to control ch.5 of my led bars ( intensity ) ?
Is that a sub master function?
How does that work independently of my other lights, adj pocket scans, running their own cue list?

Re: LED bar, macro set up
I read the wiki for midi dmx channels and don't see how it would be assigned to a specific fixture. I just gives a dmx value.
For example this fixture is at value 80, channel 5 is intensity.
I did make it work, but it's kinda funny. I made a scene with two steps, one being 0 intensity the other at 255.
I assigned the fader to submaster 1 intensity and put that scene under that submaster.
The funny thing is that I have to start the scene 1st and it's slowly fading in and out, then tell it to respond to steps instead of just playing, so it pauses.
It's just a work around... I think the midi to DMX assignment would be far better.
