Sound to Light Audio Input

Post by guyd20 »

Hi, real newbie here
I have the latest version of Freestyler running with Sound 2 Light, all working well with my fixture. However, i'm struggling to get the correct audio input. The light is only responding to my internal microphone (so when i clap basically) and the 'default wave device' is the same.
I know its probably me being stupid but how would I get the light responding to music playing through my computer? Would i need to download new drivers or something else?

May be you should adjust the sound source from windows directly

It sounds like the fixture is set to respond to sound in the fixture setup. Highlight the fixture, right click and make sure that re respond to sound is unchecked. You want the fixture to be sent the DMx message in time with music not respond directly to external noise/sound. Also use the soundcard 'stereo mix' on the S2L configure menu.

Hi Everyone, trying to get S2L to work with default audio on laptop - just can't get fixture to react at all. S2L screen shows that its receiving audio - but fixture does nothing, even though its set to react to sound. I've read and followed the S2L instructions, but nothing ...

Completely new to Freestyler - any help is appreciated.

thanks for the suggestion - Not sure what to select - do you mean under Config, there are 2 columns -Sequence Restarter and Beat Flash? Should I check off some of the boxes? Which do you suggest, just to get some reaction on the fixture ... thanks again

You should select "stereo mix" in sound2light config.
If that doesn't show up you should open sound settings in windows , then sound control panel, then recordings and select show disabled devices.
You can see stereo mix now, enable it and sound2light can see it too then.

If you use DMX400 and set it to chaser you can combine it with sound2light for a nicer effect.

To use DMX400 you should select your fixtures, right click the mouse and select "use in DMX400"

You will need to select either "Random DMX Values" or "Next Step". Choose RANDOM dmx and assign some channels if you just want your light to go "blinky blinky" to the beat.
