Flashing LED Par Can problem

Post by sparksfly01 »

Hi

Im new to this software, it looks great and love the idea it can be controlled via app on phone.

Im having some problems though.

I am using a uDMX Usb to dmx, which is all installed and working. The software loads up finds the usb interface and works.

I have been trying out some fixtures i have. The cheap Slim LED par from china works no problem all functions.
I have also tried my Starville LED Par 56 and it appears to work for about 5 minutes and then it starts to flash and flicker with any dmx value entered, and even when all zeroed. the only way to stop it is pulling the USB out of laptop. I have been doing a bit of reading about the refresh rate and have been changing it and still the same.

I have tried another piece of software Q Light Controller. This software is very basic and does not even compare to freestyler, but my Starville LED Pars work with no flashing problems.

So i do hope someone can give me a heads up on this.

Many thanks in advanced.

If you think that this is a BUG due to it working on other hardware, I'd report it below.

The only other thing I can think of is either a driver update or a bad DMX cable causing it to happen. But be sure to have another play around before reporting it as a BUG. This being because I've had it in the past where's it corrected it's self, but it's recurring then report.

hi thanks for replys

I have tried it with a terminator and without, the same.

I have the USB DMX cable going straight into par can no other cable attached.

I thought about the drivers etc, but i have tried my other fixtures and thats working no problems.

its a weird one, the par can seems to operate fine for about 10 minutes on intial power up, but then starts its flickering and wont clear. Ive tried resetting laptop, software even powerd down par can, still the same.

thanks

I remember having a similar problem with my PAR LED Slim 56 18x1W LEDs. I had to adjust the frequency on which the DMX interface sends the signal. As default, I believe that Freestyler sets it to 50. I had to lower it down to 40 on my interface in order to have it working properly. You have to go to setup, interface and advanced to open the frequency setting.
Hope it helps.
