newbie needs help [Solved]

Post by 3sky »

hi
I am new to freestyler.
I suposed to have dimmer on channel one and red on 2 green on 3 and blue on 4
But no matter how I play with freestyler or fixture ,I always have red on 1 green on 2 blue on 3
Its probably very easy for you,but I have spent hours trying to fix it with no luck.

freestyler 3.5.2
Stairville LED Flood Panel 150 (acts the same in 3 ,4 or 8 channel mode)
fixture profile downloaded from this forum. Also tryed to create new fixture, but the same result.
interface : china uDMX

thank you

The fixture from the forum should be a 4 channel mode.

Meaning the you should set Stairville to the same mode.

If you open the "Show Output" window then you can see the DMX values you are sending to the device.

I can see that it is a not tested fixture.
Do you have a manual that you can upload.

I just had a fast look on the fixture and the user manual.

They looks okay.

I will suggest that you only connect 1 fixture on address "1" and connect it direct to the usb dongle.
Be sure that the fixture is in 4 channel mode.
In FreeStyler only add one fixture on address 1.

It should now be possible to control the fixture.
See eventually the output in the "Show Output" window.

Check that the DMX led lights contant. If flashing then there is no DMX signal.

If there still is no control then try with an other type of fixture to see if it is the DMX dongle that fails or the flood panel.

Note: it can be a cable fail. could be wrong polarization.

thank you
I have tried diferent fixture ( ADJ tri phase led) and it works perfect.
But led pannel 150 works allways the same : first 3 channels are R,G,B fourth channel does nothing.Thats the same with diferent fixture proffiles(blizzard puck rgb looks like the same light under different name).Light output in freestyler is reacting to me moving sliders.I have my my fixture in 4 channel mode and on adress 1.
when I connect it to hardware mixing board it works as it should: dimmer on 1,R on2 ,G on 3,B on 4,strobe on 5, and diferent programs on 6.

can I damage something if I try to reverse polarity on the dongle?

Hej again you don't have to change polariy on the dongle.

As you write the ADJ tri phase led works and that means that your dongle is working.

You write that it works perfect with a mixing board and describe channel 1 to 6.
"1 to 6" then it is not in 4 channels mode but 8 chanels mode.

And the first you describe,"first 3 channels are R,G,B fourth channel does nothing", sounds like it is in 3 channel mode.

I think you have the wrong mode.

Try to set it in 4 channel mode and then connect it to the mixer board.
When it is in 4 channel mode then there should be nothing on channel 5 and 6.
