Agree

This is really a lousy manual.

There is only the hard way by using the sliders and see what gobo and what color you get.
Note all the dmx values and enter them in the gobo and the color wheel

Many of the known brands are also a bit lousy on information on gobos and colors
They don't have images of the Gobos or the colors.

You get a value and then the name Gobo 1 or the name of the color.
Then you have to see in the image library what comes near the right thing but it make it impossible to make a fixture file if you don't have it next to you.

Hi Jan

I connected the lamp to my hardware controller and worked out all of the settings and made a note of them
I now have the lamp working Gobos all work ect
my only problem I can not sort is the colours
I have set up the colour channel and number of colours and defined the colours in the colour wheel tab
but I do not get colour Buttons on the colour window I only a get a slider
I have set up macro's for the colours witch work but it would be better to have them in the colour window

so if any one knows how to fix this one I would be very happy
when iam happy that my fixture file is working correctly I will post it so it may help others

thank you for pointing me in the right direction

I will have a look.

And not bad at all.

Many people request a new fixture writing "I have tried but can't make it" and the fact is that they have never tried and it is a bit easier to get other to do the work.

They miss the understanding of what DMX control is but that you have.
So it makes you life as light jockey a bit easier. :)

it getting that a channel can have its 0 to 255 values spiit into different values
and each fixture uses these values differently I have just got a set of 4 light bars you can setup using 4 channels giving rgb and fade but it will also run a full 25 channels but it will also run 2 channels giving set colurs and chase patters I have set these up as macros and it makes this an easy way to use this wash fixture iam learning quickly and having fun playing with the lamp with a hardware controller and making notes of its channel and value usage has helped me understand how thy work then using that info to help check a fixture file works of create a new one
now I have all my lamps working time to play and create the shows I need
thanks Jan you have been a big help :-)

I have had a look.

To me it looks like you are running you fixture in 11 channel mode and you have made a 9 channel fixture file.

If you have full control over pan and tilt at the moment then it correspond to the 11Channel image you have above.

If this is true then you have to change "Total channels" from 9 to 11.
And the reason is that when you add a new fixture next this 9 channel fixture, the new fixture will control "reset" and "auto mode" on you fixture.
You fixture listen on 11 channels but you have only reserved 9 for it and FreeStyler will place an other fixture on channel 10 and 11.

Does this make sense?

When you look at the 11 channel dmx table I can see that you have to fill in "Pan 16bit" as channel 2 and "Tilt 16bit" as channel 4.
This should give you a more smooth movement of the fixture.
You can eventually test the Pan and tilt 16 bit by using the sliders in right side of FreeStyler.

There are more minor things but lets stop here as a beginning.

You need to figure out if your fixture are running in 9 or 11 channel mode.

I think it is running in 11 channel mode.
