Freestyler and Enttec Pro Mk2

Post by dicky96 »

Hi.

I am currently using Freestyler with a Velleman K8062 to develop my DMX lightashow and I have already found it is not up to the job - lagging on Tap Sync, and not all fixtures (even of the same type) changing colour at exactly the same time. I read on here that this is because the K8062 is just too slow to be useful.

I am currently using all DMX addresses up to 176 and that is without my lasers connected yet. I also have 12x SL-Q8 Parcans to add

So I am looking for a better, faster interface.

This one caught my eye - Enttec Pro Mk2
http://www.enttec.com/index.php?main_me ... s&pn=70314

It says Freestyler supports the advanced features of the Pro Mk2

I notice the Pro Mk2 is 1024 channels - Seeing as Freestyler can work with two Universes does this mean I can use all 1024 channels with one Pro Mk2 (as two separate universes)?

The Pro Mk2 says it has a standalone mode for 512 channel shows - does this work with freestyler shows and how do I load them into the Pro Mk2?

If it does then this interface would seem to be worth the money. Otherwise is there a cheaper option that is just as fast (no lag)

Cheers
Rich

Sorry slow with reply.. Enttec is indeed probably worth the money (dependant on your usage type). Otherwise look at dmxking (ftdi chip versions) to keep cost down without sacrificing quality or reliability.

yes it will output on both universes. Just configure it in the set up.
However if you have not used up the first universe then really don't bother!
