How to configure the midi to dmx channels:

Postby djSupport » Mon Jul 09, 2007 10:29 pm

- Open the setup window
- Goto midi setup
- Select midi interface
- Click "start"
- Click on "assign notes"
- When you assigned a note to a "midi to dmx" channel you must enter a numeric value (1- 512), you will see the numeric value appear in the "extra" column.

Freestyler v3.3.2

I can't get my keyboard to (Evolution MK361) to work at all with Freestyler. I can select it as an input device, and click on the "start" button, but I have no "Assign Notes" button, and nothing seems to happen whatever I click. Any ideas where I'm going wrong?

Many thanks,

Marcus

Ok, I've worked out how to record the midi keyboard keys. I've set "Override button 1" to the bottom key on my midi keyboard (code 38), it comes up as code 38 in the little box at the bottom of the setup page. I've then saved it, but when it comes to pressing the key to tap "Override Button 1" nothing happens.

I've checked the midi channel, made sure that the midi key settings are saved correctly, but it doesn't actually do anything. I've tried setting midi keys to Blackout, Manual-Tap, etc, but nothing works in practice.

I'm using the latest version of Freestyler (re-downloaded today), and an Evolution MK361 usb midi keyboard.

Many thanks,

Marcus

Did you press the edit button, select the override button X row and then press the note?
The note should show up at the bottom AND in the function list in the "note" column. Then disable edit mode, press start, close the window and test.

Thanks for the reply. I've done everything you mention, and the key codes are saved in the midi input control setup. Everything works perfectly until it comes to using Freestyler and getting the midi keyboard keys to do anything, which doesn't happen.

I can't understand why the midi keyboard works in the setup area so I can define everything, but not when actually using freestyler.

Many thanks,

Marcus

I am no expert in MIDI mappings, but I remember a discussion about a Midi-Keybord... There was an simmilar problem. The solution was the touch-sensibility . I think FS needs notes with value exactly (or above) 127. If touch sensibility is enabled, you send notes with different values according to how heavy you hit your keybord. Perhaps you can turn touch-sensibility off?

Maybe no expert, but take another 10 expert points :)

That was exactly the problem. Having set the keyboard's velocity curve (trial and error) for key presses, I have it all working perfectly. Cheers for that, really thank you very much!

Happy now,
Marcus
