midi via AKAI APC20

Post by fragalot »

Hi,

I recently got this to work using MIDI-OX to translate the buttons to commands that freestyler can understand (it uses the same note but on a different channel, which freestyler doesn't like).

However my question now is,

I have a show, where laser, video, etc.. is all controlled via single midi panel.

These things, however, have to be synchronized perfectly, so i've split the show up into different sections
(live actors so can't have a single timeline)

my problem now is that I can't seem to figure out how to get freestyler to run separate timeline/cue/whatever the terminology is for this that I can synchronize to the different other effects.

Ideally, i'd like to start a series of time-based events when a midi signal is sent to freestyler, and another series of events when another one is sent..

i've split the show up into 5 minute sections, and at the moment it's got 7 of these sections.

Is this possible with freestyler?

the only way I could think of would be to make a sequence for each section of the show..
but that'd run up to nearly 3000 steps if I wanted a 100ms timebase, which seems a bit much....

Thanks.

Here is what I suggested to another user with a different situation. Not sure if this would work for you. Seems like you would want to manually trigger the scenes being your dealing with a live performance and sometimes things don't go exactly right on time.

Hope this helps

I thought about that, but i'd like to avoid the manual trigger part, as the timings have to match the video exactly... And I know from myself that i'm rubbish when it comes to reaction speeds :P

Hi fragalot,

Can you please send me the mappings?
Or tell how to create them?

I also want to use my APC20 to controll Freestyler DMX. I thought the controller was standard Midi, but I don't get it work.

Many thanks. Otto

Can someone uploade a midi translator config file & the mapping file of freestyler?
